John M. Del Vecchio is the best-selling author of The 13th Valley and other historical novels on the war in Southeast Asia and the veteran home coming experience. After graduating from Lafayette College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1969, he was drafted, re-upped for a slot in the Defense Information School, then volunteered for Viet Nam where he served as a combat correspondent for the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). In 1971 he was awarded a Bronze Star with V device for combat action near the Laotian border, then served in Germany with the 72d Field Artillery Group as a race relations and command information specialist.
Other books include For the Sake of All Living Things, Carry Me Home, DEMISE: A Novel of Race, Culture Wars and Falling Darkness, The Bremer Detail (with Frank Gallagher), the forward to Viet Nam Veterans: The Road To Recovery, and the afterword for Code Word: Geronimo. His books have been translated into four languages, published worldwide, and sold approximately 1.5 million copies.
In addition to his books, Del Vecchio has helped develop and/or edit numerous books on diverse topics ranging from personal finance to medical-cultural commentaries and historical novels.
